him from being a friend she can count on.
When Maddy returns to her hometown after two years for
her brother’s wedding, she will have to face not only Trent but his brother as
well. As the two Basso brothers fight to win her heart, she struggles to forgive

ABOUT THE
AUTHOR -
Michelle Lynn has always been a reader, but her passion
has become a full-blown addiction since her husband bought her a Kindle for
Mother's Day. She's pretty sure that he regrets this on a regular basis.
Especially when she has it propped up next to the stove while she cooks, which
often results in a burnt dinner. Or when he loses sleep because the glow from
the screen wakes him up when he rolls over at three in the morning. He does
agree, however, that she uses this gift more than any other he has ever gotten
her. She joking counters that, because of some of the steamy novels she reads,
he also benefits more from this gift than any other he has gotten her. ;)
Michelle moved around the Midwest most of her life,
transferring from school to school before settling down in the outskirts of
Chicago ten years ago, where she now resides with her husband and two kids. She
developed a love of reading at a young age, which helped lay the foundation for
her passion to write. With the encouragement of her family, she finally sat
down and wrote one of the many stories that have been floating around in her
head. When she isn’t reading or writing, she can be found playing with her kids,
talking to her mom on the phone, or hanging out with her family and friends.
But after chasing around twin preschoolers all day, she always cherishes her
relaxation time after putting the kids to bed.

Excerpt #1
“You are my brother’s
girl. If he can’t be here, then I will
take care of you.” He starts looking
around on my dresser.
“Now you’re the one not in
the loop. I’m not your brother’s girl
anymore,” I reveal, trying to keep the tears from streaming down.
“I heard something about
that, but you’re still Trent’s girl.
Just look at those eyes.” He
points to me.
“What?” I ask, blotting my eyes with my fingers.
“You are about two minutes
away from crying over him. I’m not
asking again, Maddy. I will wait for you
outside your door. You have five minutes.”
He walks out, shutting the door behind him.
I reluctantly throw the
comforter off me, getting out of bed. I
guess a shower is out of the question so I shrug on my shorts and t-shirt and
slip on some flip-flops. We are in the
middle of an Indian summer so I want to make sure I am comfortable on whatever
excursion Gabe is planning for me today.
I brush my hair, putting some mascara on my lashes. I grab my ID, phone and money and open the
door.
Gabe is resting against
the wall, playing with his phone while girls stare him down as they walk
by. He walks me around campus, serving
as my unofficial tour guide. We lick our ice cream cones from his favorite
place, laughing over funny stories he tells me about each place we pass.
By the end of the day, my
cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing so much.
I can't remember a day that I've had so much fun lately, and I can’t
believe I have Gabe to thank.

“You have to let me go.”
“I can’t, Maddy,” he says,
placing his hand on my face, wiping a tear from my eyes.
He’s inching closer to me,
I knew I shouldn’t have drank so much. I
am losing my willpower and I don’t know if it’s the alcohol or him. “You have
to, Trent. I can’t live like this
anymore.”
“You are
mine…always.” His lips crush into mine
and the warmth spreads through my body. His hand moves from my cheek to my neck
pulling me closer, keeping me firmly against his lips. He licks my bottom lip asking me for
permission to open and, knowing that the words he just spoke are true, I
oblige. His tongue meets mine and they
dance together like they always have.
