Book synopsis:
Warning! This is not your everyday fall in love romance.
This book contains disturbing situations, strong language, graphic, sexual
content, some forced, some not. If it's your happily ever after love story that
you are looking for, you should probably move on. If you are up for the ride,
stick around and it may just turn into a love story after all.
Morgan starts her life in
a bad situation, she doesn't really know what she wants out of life. She's
never had anyone to look up to, or help guide her in the right direction. She
had it rough, and never dreamed that it could get worse, however she finds that
it can, and does.
She learns what real hell is when she meets the husband that
she doesn't want to marry, but isn't given a choice. Can she escape? She can,
and does only to wake up and find herself right back at square one
Author BIO
Jettie Woodruff is a practicing physician and has been a
Civil War buff for decades. No. Not really, she is not a doctor nor is she a
Civil War buff. She is however a goof-off and has a hard time being serious for
too long.
She does enjoy a challenge when it comes to her writing. She feels as though
she needs to pull every emotion possible from her readers. She wants you to be
pissed off, questioning your sanity, depressed, happy, and hopefully turn your
mind from wanting to cut the villain into tiny little pieces to loving him by
the end of the book.
Underestimated was her first dark endeavor. It was a goal alongside of writing
a series, a standalone romance, a young adult, which she can’t check that one
off. She tried she really did, but her mind just doesn’t work outside the
gutter and it quickly became rated X.
Jettie lives on 163 acres in a rural part of Ohio. She loves living in Ohio,
except maybe the snow, and the long winters, maybe the hot summers too, Ah,
hell, she hates Ohio. She does love the land and the solitude of the country.
She just wishes it was in a geographically in a better part of the country.
Jettie has two grown children and one who will be eighteen in a matter of days.
YES!!! She has also recently just had her first, cutest ever, most adorable,
granddaughter in the whole world. Her oldest daughter just hit her with the
news that she will be adding another grandchild to the family in February.
Although she is sure she will fall in love with the little creature, she still
can’t say the G word.
Jettie enjoys reading as much as she loves writing. She has way too many
favorites to list, but one of her all-time favorites from years ago was the
Casteel series from V.C. Andrews. One of her new favorites is C.J. Robert’s,
Captive series. Reading it gave her that needed push that she required to say
the hell with what people think and write Underestimated.
By day Jettie is wearing business attire and managing a mattress store. By
night she is in front of a keyboard or her Kindle, wearing, well let’s not go
there. Underestimated was her fifth book published. The first one was just shy
of a disaster, not that it was a bad book. People liked it. She just knew
nothing about it, no revising, no editing, just a spur of the moment…. “Oh, I
wrote a book, lets publish it.” Train wreck and a half. Her Star series was one
of her favorites and is held dear to her heart. She is now working on an adult
romance that should be live around the end of August, early September. She
can’t seem to stay focused on it at the moment, due to a much needed Bahamas
vacation coming up with Adam Levine’s walking around half naked, buying her
drinks.
Excerpt
Lauren turned the radio to a country station. I hated country music. Brakes.
Wait a minute. Drew hated country music. I had never actually listened to it.
How could I hate it if I had never even listened to it?
“Where’re you from?” Lauren asked as we painted and listened to something about
somebody digging their keys into the side of somebody’s souped-up four-wheel
drive.
“Indiana,” I remembered.
“What part? I have a cousin in Indiana.”
And the questions begin. “Carson,” I answered with only that.
“What brought you to Misty Bay? I know you didn’t come all the way here just to
work with Starlight Scarlett in her weird little coffee shop.”
“Now you’re scaring me,” I stated, hoping to get off topic.
She laughed. “You will absolutely love Starlight. She is as Bohemian as they
come. I just know that you didn’t move to this sectarian town for that
purpose,” she assumed.
“Are you calling this town a cult?”
“Are you going to avoid my question all night?” she retorted with her own
question.
I smiled down at her from my step stool, which thank God she owned too. “I lost
my job when they downsized, and my grandmother left me this house. I just decided
it was time for a change.” I lied, hitting it right on the money. I smiled
inside, proud that I remembered until I saw the look on her face. She knew I
was lying. She knew my grandmother didn’t leave me this house.
“If we’re going to be friends, you can’t lie to me,” she said, being
exceedingly blunt. “My aunt owned this house up until last month. She owns mine
too. That’s why they are both ugly blue.”
I walked down the step stool to face her. “Lauren, please don’t ask me too many
questions about my past. I am not running from the law or anything like that. I
just need to keep a low profile,” I tried to reassure her.
“Well, you need a better story,” she said, turned and started painting again.
“People around here know that my aunt has owned these two houses for years.”
Thanks a lot, Ms. K. Nice investigating skills.
“I’ve got it,” she stated matter-of-fact. I looked down at her with a peculiar
stare. Why would she be so zealous about helping me? I didn’t get it.
“How old are you?” she asked, again bluntly.
“I will be twenty five next month. Why?”
“Perfect,” she alleged while I continued to look at her like she had two heads.
“We went to college together, and when you lost your job, I told you about my
aunt’s house, and you bought it,” Lauren exclaimed excited. “You didn’t tell
anyone else the grandma story, did you?”

Woodruff - Review
Unexpected
Love Story!
I was hooked from the first page and was fully engrossed until the
very last!
I couldn’t believe what Morgan went through in her life to then be
handed over to the monster of a man who did even worse things to her.
She lived an awful life, yet tried to make the most of her time
and never thought of leaving until it was suggested to her. Even then she was thinking about him and how
he would cope with her being gone.
Drew was a business man who wanted her just so that he could
inherit some money, he didn’t want her in his life and made sure she knew that
at every opportunity. He was awful to
her and didn’t deserve her in his life.
This is Morgan’s story of how she coped with this life that she
had been dealt. When she met Dawson,
Lauren and Star her life changed for the better and she was allowed to be the
person that she was meant to be in life.
This love story is not your conventional love story and at some
points it is hard to understand how her love grows and you get frustrated with
some of the decisions that she makes.
I really enjoyed this book as it kept you guessing at every twist
and turn in the story. I was also
frustrated with parts of the story too, but I’m happy with the outcome at the
end of the story. Knowing the full story
– I actually believe that the resolution was the best one.
I know that any reader will enjoy this story because it is not
your every day romance story. There is
eroticism, romance, unconsensual sexual acts and some thriller and intrigue in
there too.
I will definitely read more from Jettie Woodruff in the future.
I give this book 5 stars, because it kept you guessing right to
the end of the book what she was going to do.
Enjoy!!
