Change of Heart- S.E. Edwards- Release day

Release Day Event

Hosted by: Book Enthusiast Promotions

Synopsis:

Persevere.

That's how I've gotten through nineteen years of life. It's what I do every single day--no matter how badly the odds are stacked against me.

Persevere, and survive.

Those are my two guiding words. I never knew either of my parents. I have no family and no home. The only person I could ever rely on was myself. In this cruel world, that's about as much as I can ask for.

Love? Hah. Don't talk to me about love. I stopped believing in it the day my first boyfriend ripped out my heart three years ago.

That's why love is the last thing on my mind when I leave a packed college bar with a captivating stranger. Yet everything changes when I'm awakened in the middle of the night by a pounding at the door. Suddenly, an arrangement meant for just one night threatens to become something much deeper.

All expectations are thrown to the wind as I'm tangled in a dangerous world unlike anything I can believe. The man I met has secrets swirling around him like a dark cape. I'm about to become his biggest one...

Author Bio:

'm Scarlett Edwards. I'm a full-time student (2nd year, undergrad) and part-time writer. I hope to switch those around soon!

I'm kind of old fashioned. I write all my stories using paper and ink. At the end of the day, I transcribe them on my laptop. It takes a bit longer, but writing in a notebook really focuses my thoughts.

I love vintage photography. I have an old-school film camera that was my mom's from before I was born. I use it to take pictures almost every day.

Yours to Savor is the first full book I worked on.  It went through six drafts, and took me ten months to complete.  In the two months since getting it done, I finished two drafts of brand new stories.  I'm getting faster!

I love hearing from my readers. I love getting feedback about my books. I'm just getting started, and plan on doing this writing gig for a long, long time.

I take inspiration from all the indie romance authors. Addison Moore, Samantha Young, Colleen Hoover, Jessica Sorensen, and everyone else…. you girls rock!

Excerpt:

Together, we stumble toward the elevator. Rich breaks away for a second to hit the button. The light doesn’t come on.

“Damn,” he growls, “it’s busted again.”

I’m one step ahead of him. I’d spotted the stairs when we entered. I grab his hand and pull him after me with no hesitation. I start up the cement stairwell, determined to get to his room as fast as possible.

“Penny, wait.”

I look back, confused. “What?”

A devilish smile plays on his lips. “Only this.” Without warning his hands wrap around my waist, and I’m  being lifted up as easily as if I were a doll. He turns to the side and presses my body against the wall, suspending me between him and the concrete.

His mouth crashes down on mine again. I curl my legs around his torso, locking my ankles together, and kiss him back with the passion reserved for a lover after ten long years apart. I didn’t think it was possible, but I’m getting even more turned on. Rich’s hands move down to grasp the outside of my thighs, and I moan into his kiss as the muscles of my core clench in sinful fashion. I want him so

badly. If we don’t get somewhere private soon, I won’t be wholly opposed to jumping him in public.

I gasp as he steps away, freeing me from the wall. I start to fall, but one of his hands darts down to catch me just beneath the knees.  The other one cradles my shoulders. Before I know it, I’m slung across his   arms like a bride on her wedding night.

“I’ve always wanted to carry a girl up these stairs,” Rich admits.

I laugh, and wrap my arm around his neck. “Oh, you are just the best type of romantic.”

Four flights of stairs later, Rich pushes open the fire door to a dimly-lit hallway. He carries me down the hall and stops in front of an entrance on the right. He sets me down, then fishes around in his jeans for the key. When the door creaks open, he sweeps a hand out in front of him. “Welcome to my humble abode.”

I walk in, curious about his apartment. I tend to side with the camp of people who believe that a person’s living arrangements can reveal a lot about his personality. But, I don’t find much to work with here.

The apartment is sparse and dark. Pale moonlight filters in through the balcony window, shining down on the only piece of furniture present: a queen size mattress lying on the floor of the living room. The red brick walls are totally empty—no girly posters or other things I might expect in a bachelor’s apartment. There are no lamps, no chairs, no couches.

After a moment, I notice a second piece of furniture: a small, old-school CRT TV camped in one corner of the studio apartment.

Rich switches on the light. “So?” he asks, “what do you think?”

I walk past the entrance. There’s one hall leading away from the room. It is filled with brown cardboard boxes. Lots and lots of boxes. “Did you just move in or something?”

Rich laughs behind me. “Yeah, something like that. You want a drink?”

“A drink?” I say. “No, I—”

The words catch in my throat as he grabs my hips and spins me around. I had no idea he’d come so close. He’d moved from the door to me without making a sound. His fingers lock together against my lower back, and he tugs me into him, pressing my belly to his waist. I feel his growing erection right away, and a diabolical excitement builds inside me.

Nothing happens.

For a long moment, Richard just holds me like that, staring into my eyes as I’m left dangling off his arms. His irises are the color of sea mist. I’m hypnotized by the deep intensity I see brewing just beneath the surface. I have no doubt that that type of intensity is mirrored in my eyes.

Then, moving slowly, as if restraining himself, Richard lowers his mouth to cover mine. This time, his kiss is sweet and gentle. Subtle and caring. He explores my upper lip first, then traces the line going to the corner of my mouth. His lips form a perfect mold over mine.

I was wrong before. This is the kiss reserved for a lover you haven’t seen in ten ye

Excerpt:

Stopping at the florist on the way home, I pull in and pick up a dozen pink roses for Sarah. Yes, sucking ass big time.
Hey, if it works…then I’ll be all good. When I’m good, everyone is good. God forbid I get red roses, she’d want to run off to the fucking chapel. That isn’t going to happen to me, not in this lifetime anyways. I stroll in the house.
“I’m home babe,” I yell out, dropping the folder on the table.
“Upstairs,” Sarah yells back. I know this tone.
Skipping two steps at a time, I follow the circular staircase. I dodge the hanging chandelier with my head. Something else she had to have, forgetting I am well over six fucking feet tall.
“Hi darling, these are for you,” I hand her the flowers.
“Why? Because you slammed the phone down in my ear earlier?”
And…here we go! She’s such a bitchacoholic.

Review

What can i say-  I am still fanning myself, I finished reading it day's ago. I will say, L.D. Davis knows how to write some amazing extra hot scenes. Accidentally On Purpose is all about sex, drugs, and yes you can guess  more sex. This  book is full of surprises, you never know what is going to happen next.

This story is about Emmy, who is torn between two men. I am happy how their lives ended and was quite torn between Emmy's  two men most of the book. She did lots of different acts of leisure. She is willing to do anything to keep her man.

A definitely most read

Elaine Breson interview

1. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Honestly, enough, writing has never been my first passion. I'd always been so concerned with having a family, that a career choice sort of passed me by. I worked at a bookstore for nine years after leaving college, so I've definitely read my fair share of books to know what I like and don't like.

2. How long does it take you to write a book?
Keep Me Safe started going down on paper in October. So I guess we'll see how long it takes me!

3. What is your work schedule like when you're writing? I have two young children, so I work around them. Basically I spend all day with them, clean my house during their nap time, and write after they go to bed. It doesn't give me a whole lot of time, but that's the way life goes when you have little kids!

4. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk? I can't write out of order. I've tried, and I just don't get the full emotion or effect when I try to start somewhere else. I also have to have music. I turn it on so quietly I almost can't hear it, but I can't do it without it. I have songs that go with specific scenes, so I usually play the same song on repeat until I finish the scene.

5. How do books get published?

6. Where do you get your information or ideas for your books? One of my main characters is a police officer, so I've used what I've learned from my fiance. He's worked in law enforcement since before we started dating nine years ago. My other main character is a music teacher. I'm a through and through band geek. No extra info needed there ;)

7. When did you write your first book and how old were you? This is my first. When I was in college, a writing assignment in our English class was to write an entire outline for a story. So this has been something in the back of my mind for almost ten years. I dug it back out of a box one day and just started adding to my outline.

8. What do you like to do when you're not writing? I have a small craft business I do from home. Between that and my kids, there's not much time! My first love is crafting/DIY.

9. What does your family think of your writing? My fiance is the only one who knows about me writing. It was actually a secret  from him for a while. I wanted to make sure I could actually do it and finish it before I told them about it.

10. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books? I never really understood when writers said their characters "spoke" to them. Mine don't necessarily do that, but I have had scenes in my head before, and they've played out completely different once I've started writing them out. Almost like I had no control.

11. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite? This is it! Hopefully soon I can say I've finished it, and hopefully later down the line there is more than one so I can choose between them. But this has been a big feat for me, just getting this far. So it's already my favorite.

12. Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they? Don't worry about everyone else. There are so many Indie authors right now. You don't have to be the best, you don't have to sell the most books. If you have a story, tell it. And do it with class. There are too many people trying to tear down other authors. Just be supportive!

13. Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say? I get messages every day asking when my book will be finished, and how excited they are to read it. That blows my mind. To think that anyone cares about my story amongst all the others is SO wonderful and I'm so thankful.

14. Do you like to create books for adults? When I started writing KMS, I knew that sex sells. Let's be realistic. But after starting it, it didn't really come out that way. So I can't say it won't be "adults only" by the end, but as of right now, it's not full of it.

15. What do you think makes a good story? A good plot. You could have oompa loompas in your story as long as it has a good story line haha

16. As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up? I was going to be a mom. It's really the only thing I've ever want to do :)

And my Serial Novella, Falling for You is about three quarters of the way finished. You can download it for free from Goodreads or read it on my blog:

Julia Beals can’t remember a day in her life when she didn’t have to work. So the ad in the paper sounded perfect to her – even if she did have to marry a complete stranger.

Nicholas Steele isn’t used to being around people since the accident that disfigured him. Having a permanent house guest isn’t his idea of fun, however, the press would have a field day if they found he and his new wife weren’t residing together.

On paper, their ‘fake’ marriage fits both their needs. In reality, every moment Nicholas and Julia spend together brings them closer to falling for each other.

Further plans: I've got plenty on the go right now. Letting Go is an adventure romance which I am working on, and I've just started a New Adult romance called Cornered. In 2014 my YA novel will be released, so look out for that as well! I plan on writing until I can't write anymore :)

Who would you like to write with: I would have loved to write with Henrik Ibsen or Isaac Asimov, but alas, neither are still living.

Here are some links, should you need them! And thanks for letting me take part in this author spotlight. If you'd like me to re-post anyone's spotlight on my blog, just e-mail me the link! I'd love to help if I can!

Review

Wow just wow I am totally left speechless. This book deserves a rating out of 10 and damn it will still be 12..... The story had my attention from the moment I started and just kept pulling me in for more! I really enjoyed it and damn if I have to tell u but Marcus is one in a million, definitely on the top 5 of book boyfriends. LOL the passion, curious ness and then the way Marcus goes all man cave, possessive over his woman. It started with Lauren being with her high-school sweetheart, which she found out he was banging his secretary while they were engaged. This brought all of the time they were together to an end. She has known Marcus now for over 2 years and always thought he was damn sexy. Now she was single and looking for a little fun. Who better than Marcus. They met through company meetings and became good friends. The first time they touched there was an electric shock going through both of them. After Marcus found out she was single he couldn't keep her from his thoughts..... Which didn't help him very much. He wanted her more and more! After the first night they got together, once wasn't enough and they both wanted more and in the end Marcus moved to Chicago to be with his lady.... Do not miss out on this fanfuckingtastic book. U will be missing out on a lot of great sex scenes and damn if the love wasn't so good.... Makes u wish to be Lauren so be sure to put this on your TBR list

Hi thank you so much for agreeing to this interview.
                                                                                                                                                                                - Your  very welcome, thank you for wanting to interview me  :)

  1. What made you come up with the book title HTCB?                                                                                      I have a saying I always use with my Sorrella, (I'm known for my silly sayings lol.) I'm forever comparing Girls/Women to butterflies... and how men have always and will always be fascinated by  their beauty etc, nothing changes except their behavior towards them.  lol
  2. Is any part of HTCB baised on real life?                                                                                            -Yes, lots of it, even chapters 1 & 2. They are a part of me as any of the others. Names have obviously been changed, lol. Rebecca & Lucy are based on three women,  including myself. And no I'm not telling who's who hahaha The men ?? Yes they are all real as well.....
  1. Is there a book two? (PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE)                                                                   - Yes, I'm already pounding the keyboard working on book 2, I've a certain couple in Forte Dei Marmi, which is in Tuscany. And they are having a wonderful time indeed, LOL I only took a two ish weeks of a break before I started writing again. I had characters screaming at me to "put my fingers on the keyboard". Yes and I sleep with note books by my bed so I can write idea's or things out.
  2. If you had to go out for lunch with one of the males - who? & why?                                             - Ohhh, very nice question, can I not let THEM  all take ME out for lunch ?? Hehehe With the exception of David of course. 'Shudder'
  3. What made you come up with those names?                                                                       - There are actual real names there, and I have swapped some of them around with each other, again I can't say which is which etc lol
  4. What advice would you give to a new writer?                                                                                             -. Sleep with a note pad so you can write the idea's you have down, Plan. Store your map/info , I used a copy book, HTCB took two copy books. I stored all my info, properties, names, ages, cars, etc etc like profiles that you can cross reference at any time.  I'm finding it very handy at the moment as I mapped the time lines. I need those for book 2.                                                                                            And also to have a good support network. When you put your heart and soul and 9/10 a little piece of you, you feel very exposed, it can be very unnerving as someone has your work, and there looking at your baby judging it.  For me that was especially hard, as I never let anyone only my dad read my short stories. If you're lucky enough have  good support in place, you can ride the roller coaster that is 'writing'. I think the Beatles were right when they said " I get by with a little help from my friends" LOL
  5. what made you choice to self publish?                                                                                    - Being honest with you, I didn't think there would be any opportunity to get picked up by a publishing house, you always hear of more rejections than anything else, I was very lucky to submit my work into a  Indie Publishers, they signed me up on editing which was amazing. I still can't believe my book is out there. It's very surreal.
  6. If you had to write with another author who would it be and why?                                                  - Hmmm that's a hard one, as I have two writing hero's Clive Cussler. I've loved Dirk Pitt (he's the hero of his books) since I was 14. He was a favorite of my father, I borrowed his books and was hooked / in love (and still am) with 'Dirk Pitt' ever since. I love the way he amalgamates history and fiction harmoniously together, I just love his writing, Always have and always will, but only his own novel's not the co-written ones, their are not the same now sadly :( .  And Ian Fleming because, he too used his life experiences throughout his books. And as everyone knows its not just Bond, lol there's Chitty chitty bang bang. A author who can cater to all ages.
Tell us 5 random facts about you  -                                                                                        Ohhh good question ok
   1. I'm a HUGE Titanic buff / nerd - i have hundred's of  books, even collectibles/ first editions  (yep big nerd lol) I love history.
    2 - I went to stage/drama school.
 3. - I've been in two music video's from the late 80's & early 90's.
 4. -  I'm good at accents.
 5. - I don't like odd numbers ?? ( you wanted random !!!! lol)

  Review

Lets say, i feel in love with this story as soon as i saw the title

I am still not fully sold on Jackson, but a book with 5 men- Jackson, Chris, David, George and Jason- what could go wrong? Rebecca, is such a normal person. She has gone through the heartache most of us have been through. Rebecca is one very strong character, i feel i love with her as a character.

I have so many questions to ask about David i hope the wait for book two is not long.
I like Jackson's character a lot ,but I do think he has always been sneaky? You will have to read to find out and come up with your own conclusion.

All in all, this book was AMAZING! So new and fresh. I like something new. But very frustrating! But I have recommended it and I would continue to, I hope there is a book two.
Must read ladies! <3
